Abstract:

This paper compares and analyzes the important technologies and features involved in the New Media Consortium Horizon Report: Library Edition  published in 2014, 2015 and 2017. It also introduces seven technologies mentioned in 2017 Library Edition, including consumer technologies, digital strategies, enabling technologies, internet technologies, learning technologies, social media technologies, and visualization technologies. This study makes a deep interpretation of six important emerging technologies, including large data, digital academic technology, library service platform, online identity, artificial intelligence, and Internet of things. With the combination of the new progress in library technology application domestic and abroad, this paper offers some suggestions about the technologies of artificial intelligence, including carrying out the research of digital academic technology theory and practice, developing the library service platform with independent intellectual property rights, promoting the development of online identity technology such as ORCID, and exploring intelligent robots and other artificial intelligence technologies.
