Abstract:

This paper survey on Sun Yatsen University library users’ need of different types, different formats and different languages foreign literature through questionnaires.The results show that user needs are mainly books and journals, they play more importance on electronic formats.User’s disciplines and identities have significant impact on their needs. At last, it put forward three proposals on user needs oriented foreign literature collection development: mainly acquire books and journals; concentrate on electronic resources, supplemented by paper resources, pay more attention on monograph and also take textbook and reference book into account.
