Abstract:

Research and consulting services appear to be new which have been developed in the transformation and innovation of library.  It is not only the expectation of libraries’ superior authorities, but also a pursuit of service capability improvement and selfvalue realization for libraries. It is beneficial to the development of libraries’ parent body, progress of libraries’ service capability, and cultivation and solidification of highend function for repositories. It has been practically confirmed that librarians not only are qualified for this service, but also have advantages in data collection and researching objectivity and fairness over consulting companies. This paper investigates the relationship between library work and research and consulting service, explores its feasibility and necessity, and provides some countermeasures and suggestions according to some cases.
