  • Online:2021-09-10 Published:2021-11-11

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]The purpose of this paper is to analyze the information sources factors, psychological factors and their interaction mechanisms affecting COVID-19 vaccination intentions. [Design/Methodology]This study took the Health Belief Model as theoretical basis to investigate the effects of information sources exposure and trust on public health belief and COVID-19 vaccination intentions through PLS-SEM model.[Findings/Conclusion]The study shows that compared with informal information sources, formal information sources exposure and trust are stronger in affecting the cognition of vaccine and vaccination intentions. Perceived benefits and perceived barriers which are the variables representing the evaluation of vaccination behaviors, play a significant mediating effect in this process. In short, people form their belief of vaccination behavior through the use and trust of formal information sources, which further improves their vaccination intentions.[Originality/Value]This study provides a new perspective to understand how information sources affect vaccination intentions based on psychological and cognitive dimensions, partly responds to the prediction of previous Health Belief Model on vaccination intentions. This study also makes a localized explanation of the factors affecting COVID-19 vaccination intentions in China and provides a theoretical basis for the mobilization strategy of COVID-19 vaccination.
