Abstract:

The citation type recognition reveals associations between citing and cited articles by classifying citation motivation, which is an important complement to the traditional citation analysis based on cited frequency and the foundation for semantic enhanced citation analysis. The citation type recognition mainly includes citation type definition, citation content extraction and citation type annotation. The paper firstly makes a brief overview of citation type recognition, and then discusses the related research of its three main steps’ theory and practice. Finally, the paper comments on the existing problems and future trends.
