Abstract:

The paper did a deep investigation on 10 American university libraries about the subject librarians, library guides (including subject guides and course guides), data management and service (including data statistics & analysis and research data management), searching tools, and library academic communities. Based on this the features of university library subjectoriented service were summarized as four aspects: searching tools, guides, data and community. It is found that the above four aspects could be improved for university libraries to deepen their subjectoriented service. It is important to establish resource discovery system, optimize subject guides and course guides, provide service on data search and analysis, and build virtual and physical academic community.
