An Empirical Study on the Public Information Need and Barrier of Vulnerable Groups

Abstract:

This study examined the types of vulnerable group’s public information needs and implementations. The results of the survey found that vulnerable groups could not meet their public information demand. The implementation of public information needs had obstacles. In order to analysis the implementation barriers of public information demand for vulnerable groups, this study used factor analysis to found out the key factors which influenced the public information demand of vulnerable groups from many factors and found out that information environment, information rights and interests, public information service, information literacy, and economic factor would affect the public information needs of vulnerable groups. From these five common factors, the cause that vulnerable groups could not meet their public information demand was analyzed basing on a large number of survey data and interview data.
