The Investigation and Analysis of Master of Library and Information Science Education Quality Assurance System in USA

  

Abstract:

During the long history of the development in American library information science education,a more perfect education quality assurance system has been formed. Through an online survey of 15 iSchools members in America, this paper analyzes them from two aspects: internal and external education quality assurance system. Based on the results,two enlightenments can be extracted for improving Master of Library and Information Science(MLIS) education quality assurance system in China. For the internal education quality assurance system, it is necessary to establish “career-oriented” training objective, enrich training mode and increase resources of internship and employment; for the external education quality assurance system, it is necessary to improve the ranking system and promote intercollegiate/school-enterprise cooperation and communication. These enlightenments shall help perfect MLIS education quality assurance system in China, and encourage universities, government and social organizations work together to promote MLIS education development.
