Abstract:

Developing reading promotion standards in libraries is significant to achieve  the mission of libraries, take advantage of libraries and promote the transition of libraries. This paper interprets the connotation of reading promotion standard in libraries. Then some problems are proposed , including lacking of supports from laws and policies, the absence of directions in practice, and shortage of evaluation system. It is valuable both in theory and practice to implement the standardized management of reading promotion in libraries, which can make it institutionalization, systematization, standardization and scientific. After reviewing the standards and practices in other countries’ libraries, this paper finds that  these libraries pay attention to institutional standards, operating rules and regulations, and the standards of intendance. By doing this, they have already developed a relatively complete standard system. Therefore, libraries in China should start to study  the standards of reading promotion, and complete the standard system  in the aspect of institutional standards, operating rules and regulations, intendance standards and technical standards.
