The Re-innovation of Information Literacy Education: Summary of the Conference of Information and Media Literacy Education in Cross Strait

Abstract:

This article was mainly about the Conference of Information and Media Literacy Education in Cross Strait that was held in Shih Hsin University in October, 2017. It discussed the innovation of information literacy education from three aspects:the transformation and upgrading of information literacy education,the extension of information literacy education and the innovation of information literacy courses. Meanwhile, this article also summarized the viewpoints and opinions of some experts and scholars of Library and Information Science across the straits on the frontier issues of information literacy education, including courses reform, the integration of information literacy education and professional education, and the emphasis on IT literacy education and data literacy education. This article mainly analyzed the innovation of information literacy teaching, and put forward the transformation of teaching pattern from teachingcentered to emphasizing both on teaching and studying. Meanwhile, new teaching tools and teaching modes need to be brought in, such as the use of mind mapping and the development of online education. This paper also mentioned the current situations and the existing problems of information literacy education on MOOC platform based on the typical MOOC courses.
