Abstract:

[Purpose/Significance]This study aims to explore the connotation of natural human computer interaction (NHCI), and analyze its possible impact on the activities of libraries, museums and archives (LAM). [Design/Methodology] In this paper, we collected, identified and sorted out existing literature about NHCI, and illustrated the application of NHCI technologies or products in LAM by case study. [Findings/Conclusion]The peopleoriented concept of LAM is intrinsically compatible with the human centered  idea in NHCI. Based on the three progressive levels of “resource service space”, LAM can promote their service innovation from four aspects including promoting the integration of collection entities and digital resources, providing accessible services for special populations, creating collaborative and shared knowledge services, and providing emotional and cognitive experience situations. [Originality/Value]This study defines the concept and explores the characteristics of NHCI, illustrates its application and exploration in the field of LAM in details, and proposes the application prospects.
