Reflections on Chinese Library Science Education Reform from a Global Perspective

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]The global complex information environment has brought new opportunities and challenges to the development of librarianship. So it is necessary for library science education to make changes timely in order to cultivate high-level professionals with a global vision who can adapt to the requirements of librarianship development in a complex information environment. [Design/Methodology]By scanning the global research and career development environment of library science, this paper tries to find countermeasures for library science education reform. [Findings/Conclusion]Library science education could carry on reforms from four perspectives including reshaping library science system for sustainable development goals, strengthening students' cooperation ability, cultivating students' strategic thinking, and practically adopting a compound teaching mode.[Originality/Value]This paper offers answers for how to change library science education from the perspectives of teaching content, teaching objects, and teaching methods.
