Systematic Review on Users’ Psychology and Their Information Behavior in the Internet Era

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]This paper intends to review the studies of users’ psychology and their information behavior in the Internet environment, which is beneficial to the future research and practical guidance in this field.[Design/Methodology]Based on the 43rd Statistical Report on the Internet Development in China, this paper sort out the studies of users’ psychology and their information behavior from five aspects, which are basic application, business transaction, network finance, network entertainment and public services. [Findings/Conclusion]It has been found that all the existing researches contain contents of simple individual information behavior and complex group information behavior. Moreover, specific network environments have been taken into consideration during the use of methods. In addition, research contents combined with social networks and research methods integrated with big data analysis will be the future focus.[Originality/Value]By sorting and summarizing the interdisciplinary research on psychology and information science according to network application contexts, this paper enriches the topic categorization of the reviews on users’psychology and their information behavior. It also further generalizes the research contents of users’ psychology and behavior in the field of library and information science.
