Prospects for Library and Information Science in the 14th Five-Year Plan Period:Analysis Based on the Global Strategic Blueprint

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]At the intersection of ages, this research analyzes and reflects on the current situation and future trends of library and information science during the 14th FiveYear Plan period in a global view, which aims to provide references for the development of this discipline in the new era.[Design/Methodology]This paper collected and analyzed several international and national strategic blueprint reports, interpreted relevant requirements of the society for the field of library and information science, and explored its future research direction.[Findings/Conclusion]In the new era, library and information science could deepen research in culture service, technology innovation, data governance, and sustainable development, which are all social concerns. Meanwhile, this discipline should continuously upgrade library and information services, respond to the New Liberal Arts construction deployment, strengthen data development and utilization, and promote sustainable development of society.
[Originality/Value]From the perspective of library and information science, this research comprehensively analyses international and domestic macro-strategic documents, explores the development opportunities brought by social transformation to the discipline, and looks forward to the theoretical and practical research of the discipline during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
