Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]Fragmented reading has become an important way for users to obtain information. Exploring the formation mechanism of user information anxiety behaviors and the interaction modes of various variables in this process will provide suggestions and countermeasures to better cope with the problems and difficulties brought by information anxiety.
[Design/Methodology]This paper analyzed and summarized the semi-structured data obtained from the interviews to refine the influencing factors with the use of grounded theory. Finally, we built a conceptual model under the research framework of S-O-R theory.[Findings/Conclusion]Information factors and environmental factors could generate positive and negative emotional cognition under the adjustment of user ability characteristics. Among them, negative emotional cognition would cause users’ information anxiety of different degrees and properties.[Originality/Value]The examination of users’ information anxiety behaviors in the context of fragmented reading could enrich the research perspectives of users’ emotional experience during reading, which is conducive to strengthening users’ attention and understanding of information anxiety behaviors.
