Practical Exploration and Development Focuses of the Digitalization of Public Culture in China

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] This study will systematically review the practice and experience of digitizing public culture in China and clarify the development focuses. It can help promote the digitization process of China's public culture in the new era and optimize the path of high-quality development. [Design/Methodology] Through literature research and policy review, this article conducts a comprehensive analysis of the digitalization process of public culture in China, summarizes key measures and achievements at each stage, and proposes development focuses based on relevant policy essentials in the past five years. [Findings/Conclusion] The development of China's public culture digitization practice can be divided into four stages: embryonic emergence period, multi-points deployment period, system construction period, quality and efficiency improvement period. The practical experience can be summarized into five points: guiding the digitalization advancement of public culture through national strategy; promoting project implementation at key points and in various areas; mobilizing diverse social forces to participate; focusing on digital services for vulnerable groups; constructing a digital resource system with Chinese culture as the core. Future development aims to promote high-quality digitalization of public culture from the perspectives of "breadth, depth, precision, height, and temperature". [Originality/Value] This study summarizes the development process and practical experience of the digitalization of public culture in China, and proposes five key focuses for future development.
