On the Logic of Relationship Between Ancient and New in the High-Quality Development of Libraries

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] How to deal with the relationship between ancient and new in the process of high-quality development of contemporary libraries, which this paper aims to discuss, is a practical problem that China's library industry is currently facing and needs to solve. [Design/Methodology] Combined with case analysis, the article elaborates on this from three aspects. Firstly, the eternal antiquity of the library is the prerequisite cornerstone for high-quality development of the library. Secondly, the perpetual novelty of the library is the driving engine for high-quality development of the library. Thirdly, the rhythm between antiquity and novelty should be scientifically grasped In the process of high-quality development. [Findings/Conclusion] The high-quality development of libraries requires adhering to the ancient inheritance logic, which is determined by the basic functional mission of libraries. We need to actively innovate in adhering to the past, advocate openness while upholding the past, and inject fashion into the past, so as to transform the past into novelty while keeping up with the times, and inject a spirit of innovation that is constantly embodied and constantly updated in the past. [Originality/Value] Taking the correct understanding and handling of the relationship between ancient and forever new as the entry point for the high-quality development of China's library industry has theoretical and practical guidance value for the scientific and high-quality development of the library industry.
