Abstract:

This paper made a comparative analysis between periodical paper and proceedings literature in Computer Science Software Engineering field (2000~2009), from two perspectives: trends within (1) paper attributes and (2) individual countries. The results showed that: firstly, the number of periodical paper and proceedings literature both has a growing trend, and the latter grows faster and more unstable. Secondly, the overall quality of periodical papers is better than conference papers. Thirdly, the quality of proceedings literature from China is obviously lower than that of other major countries. The purpose of this study is to provide decisionmaking basis for conference paper evaluation, academic conference management, etc.
