Abstract:

In recent years, maker movement is sweeping the world, and the number of makerspace is also increasing. In 2015, the State Council issued guidance on makerspace, indicating that Chinese makerspace will experience a period of rapid development. The rapid development of makerspace also began to gradually affect libraries, and the first makerspace of the public library was born in 2011 in the United States. Chinese libraries have focused on makerspace since 2012. In 2013, Chinese Academy of Sciences created the first makersapce in China. Since then, Chinese libraries have achieved a lot in the theories and practices of the makerspace. To promote the construction and related services of the makerspace, it is necessary to summarize the development of theories and practices systematically. Currently, Chinese theoretical research on makerspace is related to the name and definition, the origin and development, the value, construction researches, case studies and the advice. By the literature study and online research, we analysis the different topics, and summarize the existing makerspace in Chinese libraries.
