Abstract:
This article studies the typical basic theoretical works of China’s library science with the conceptual history method, and finds that the phrase “library education” raised from 1920s, before 1949, which was a high frequency phrase in the basic theoretical works. From 1949 to the late 1970s, the “library education” was disappeared in the almost all basic theoretical works, and from 1980s this phrase was used in the basic theoretical works of China’s library science again, while its meaning was narrowing, at the same time ,the phrase “education for library science” was rising. From 21 century, the “library education” has been replaced by the phrase “education for library science”. The historical evolution of the phrase “library education” in the typical basic theoretical works of China’s library science which shows the standardized process of library terms and the development of China’s library science from an libraryoriented discipline to a kind of modern science.
