Abstract:
[Purpose/Significance]Preservation metadata is the key factor to solve the problem of longterm preservation of digital information resources. [Design/Methodology]From the perspective of management, this paper systematically reviews the research process of longterm preservation metadata from the aspects of conception, framework and quality assessment. [Findings/Conclusion]The concept research of preservation metadata is mainly defined from three perspectives: function, category and targe. As the core framework for preservation metadata, PREMIS makes the preservation metadata realize the transition from theoretical discussion to practical implementation, and current research focuses more on how to apply PREMIS to digital information resources in different fields; In the aspect of quality assessment of preservation metadata, besides referring to different metadata standards to ensure the quality of preservation metadata and referring to various metadata quality assessment methods to carry out quality assessment of the generation and maintenance of preserved metadata, it is also necessary to design specific preservation metadata quality assessment index systems according to the long-term preservation needs and resource characteristics of different institutions. [Originality/Value]From the perspective of management, the research progress of long-term preservation metadata of digital information resources at home and abroad has been reviewed, which could provide reference for the long-term preservation research and practice of digital information resources in China.
