Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]The seventh national MLIS education development survey has been conducted to reveal the current status of the MLIS education in China.[Design/Methodology]Data about the teaching staff, enrollment and employment, education and cultivation of MLIS training institutions were gathered through questionnaire, and the development trend of MLIS education was demonstrated by comparing with historical data.[Findings/Conclusion]The survey of 47 MLIS training institutions indicates a fast development of the MLIS education in China, which is demenstrated by the increasing number of teachers and students, the optimistic employment situation of graduates, and the increasing specification of curriculum setting, education resource construction and training process management. As a result, the effects of MLIS education are emerging.[Originality/Value]The report on the development of MLIS education in China has been consecutively published for seven years. Compared with the previous surveys, the effectiveness of education and social services are new in this survey, which intends to emphasize the achievements of MLIS degree programs.
