LIS Curriculum System in Digital Age: Based on Investigation of UK and US

Abstract:

The article investigates curriculum system of 25 LIS schools in UK and US, and summarizes its characteristics and missiondriven guiding principle. On the basis of comparative analysis of domestic and foreign situation, the paper points out some experiences of UK and US is worthy of reference for Chinese LIS schools, including professional orientation and dynamic concerns on social requirements in guiding principle, and diverse courses, distinct levels, integration features of library and information science and archives in curriculum system. A case study of undergraduate courses adjustment conducted in Department of Information Resource Management of Nankai University is also analyzed.
