Abstract:
The construction of faculty plays a crucial role in disciplinary development, research innovation and talent cultivation. In this study, iSchools from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia have been chosen as samples. With the investigation of faculty construction in the samples, we can provide references for related practice in China. This study conducted research on the faculty construction of 41 iSchools institutions abroad in terms of gender and education composition, professional title distribution, professional background and research field. It has been found that there are some obvious characteristics in faculty construction of iSchools abroad, such as pluralistic education background and trendency in crossdisciplinary research. Accordingly, it has been suggested that we should stengethen the integration of facalties' multidisciplinary background, enhance the interdisciplinary research capacity and tamp the practical ability oriented to information professional.
