Abstract:

To explore the composition, characteristics and value of historical materials of library in books and periodicals of Guangzhou during the Republic of China, the paper aims to provide a method and idea for the collection, collation and research of the historical materials of local libraries in the period of the Republic of China. The paper defines the concept of historical materials of library in books and periodicals of Guangzhou during the Republic of China, points out the collection distribution and digitization of its. On this basis, the paper analyses the number of libraries, publishing time and literature theme of those historical materials which consists of library related books, library periodicals and library publications. Those historical materials have important value in confirming the modernized transformation of Guangzhou library, displaying the historical context of the local library, reflecting the development of the library, enriching the historical materials of the research of Guangzhou library scholars and local publications. The paper can lay a foundation for collecting, collating and publishing historical materials of Guangzhou’s library in the Republic of China.
