Changes and Prospects of Library Science Education System in China Since Reform and Opening up

Abstract:

The education system of library science has undergone a profound and thorough transformation in all aspects since reform and opening up. By the use of literature research and online survey, this paper systematically summarized and analyzed the guiding role played by library science education policy at different stages in the reform and opening up. It reviewed the development and transformation of educational institutions, the changes of subject attribution, the educational system transforming of different degrees, and the establishment and improvement of adult education system in library science. In the ever-changing global information environment, breakthroughs should be made in deepening the reform of library science education system in China, including adjusting and clarifying the orientation of undergraduate education in library science, turning the emphasis of library science education to master degree, redesigning the Master professional system of library and information science, and reforming and improving the system of continuing education in library science.
