Abstract:
This paper constructs a method for evaluating the scientific paradigm of scientific research units, which is a tool used to carry out the analysis on the structure of science field and the behaviour features during the process of scientific activities. A method based on the structure of citation networks and collaboration networks had been used to study on scientific paradigm. Three scientific research units, CAS-QC, MIT-QIT and OXFORD-Q respectively from China, USA and UK in the field of quantum information were used for case study. Results showed that the clusters of CAS-QC were divided much denser than the other two units, while the collaboration networks of MIT-QIT and Oxford-Q were much more sparse than CAS-QC with lower densities and higher diameters. The citation networks indicated that the scopes of the research of MIT-QIT and Oxford-Q were much more extensive than CAS-QC.
