Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]Due to the increase of academic communication internationalization, this study intends to explore the relationship between the internationalization of references and papers’citation frequency, and answer  the academia concerned question whether an excellent international vision is conducive to the improvement of papers’academic impact. [Design/Methodology]Social science has been chosen as the research object, and 181,406 CSSCI indexed papers in the fields of Management, Library & Information Science, and Journalism & Communication Studies have been taken as research samples. At the same time, the correlation analysis, nonparametric test and regression analysis have been used to study the influence of the number, quality, discipline and timeliness of cited foreign journal articles on papers’citations.[Findings/Conclusion]It has been found that the internationalization of references has a significant positive impact on sample papers’ citations after controlling article types, journal reputation and other factors which could affect citation frequency. Specifically, papers get more citations if their references from foreign journals are of larger amount, higher academic quality, higher discipline specificity and better timeliness.[Originality/Value]It is verified that international vision could help enhance the academic influence of Chinese social science papers. Moreover, suggestions are proposed accordingly.
