Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]This study aims to explore the performance and causes of the second digital divide among the contemporary college students in China.[Design/Methodology]The Internet using ability and the Internet learning index were constructed to measure the second digital divide.Questionnaire survey, descriptive statistical technique and multiple linear regression were used to collect and analyze data.[Findings/Conclusion]It has been found that the influence of social structural factors such as living in urban or rural areas on the second digital divide has been weakened, and internal psychological and emotional factors such as Internet self-efficacy and knowledge or learning ability are more critical.University libraries should play important roles in bridging the second digital divide.[Originality/Value]This study is innovative in the measurement of digital divide which emphasizes the incentive and capability of applying the Internet to learning. It also provides reference for college information literacy education.
