Fundamental Principles of Regression Analysis in Library, Information and Archives Management

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]This paper aims to introduce fundamental principles of regression analysis and explain how to use regression analysis in library, information and archives management.[Design/Methodology]These fundamental principles were summarized from reviewing relevant literature on philosophy of science, statistics, and econometrics.[Findings/Conclusion]Methodologically rooted in hypothetico-deductive method, regression analysis is usually used for theory testing and development. Accordingly, the general process of using regression analysis for researchers in library, information and archives management is also proposed.[Originality/Value]This paper contributes to revealing the epistemological, methodological and statistical principles of regression analysis, along with a particular focus on researchers in library, information and archives management.
