A Study of the iSchools Compound Talents Cultivation on Information Management and Digital Forensics in North America

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]  This study aims at analyzing the practice of iSchools compound talents cultivation on information management and digital forensics in North America to provide references for conducting digital forensics education within the framework of information management disciplines. [Design/Methodology] iSchools in North America are taken as examples, the status of digital forensics education is investigated and its characteristics and motivations are analyzed. [Findings/Conclusion] The results indicate that in North America, there are 15 iSchools offering digital forensics education and they have remarkable characteristics in aspects of training programs, curriculum offering, course content, and teaching methods,which are due to the close relationship between information management and digital forensics in terms of business processes and functions, and are also strongly driven by practical needs and the industry environment. On this basis, the prospect of training compound talents of information management and digital forensics in China is stated. [Originality/Value] This analysis on the progress of iSchools digital forensics education in North America will provide experience for promoting the interdisciplinary development of information management discipline and composite talent training in China.
