Survey Report on MLIS Program Development in China(2023)

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] The purpose of this report is to comprehensively and objectively reflect the status and developmental changes of MLIS education in China in 2023. [Design/Methodology] This study employs survey questionnaires to collect data on faculty, enrollment, education and training, employment, etc., from MLIS training units. The status quo is depicted through statistical descriptions and comparisons, to reveal the development and change. [Findings/Conclusion] The MLIS education in China is developing steadily. This is evidenced by the stable growth of faculty, the continuous expansion of enrollment, distinctive training characteristics, and favorable employment conditions for graduates, increasingly standardized curriculum setting, educational resources construction and training process management across training units. [Originality/Value] The reports on the development of MLIS education in China have been consecutively published for eleven years, providing support for decision-making of degree and education management departments, as well as training institutions.
