Abstract:

Open Data has become a new trend in the government information open, and the information resources exploitation in related industry gains more and more attention while the open data plans are supported and promoted all over the world. This paper takes NYC open data for example, using the method of case study to explore the impact of open government information on geographic information resources development and utilization. The results show that with the public,  the geographic information products is becoming more various on function/more effective, the users will get better experience, thus promoting the development of geographic information resources industry; Meanwhile, the deepening exploitation on geographic information resources brought by the open data will accelerate the pace of building smart cities.
