Abstract:

[Purpose/Significance]This study aims to explore the essence of digital humanities and the relationship between digital humanities and library and information science (LIS). [Design/Methodology] Using the literature research method, this paper studies and compares current research on digital humanities. [Findings/Conclusion] Digital humanities originated from humanities computing and it has been defined as a discipline, a research method, a space and a practice. The rising of digital humanities provides  a good opportunity for researchers of LIS to rethink about the discipline and their work.  LIS should focus on resource integration, communication with researchers of humanities and other social sciences, and involvement of personal daily life. [Originality/Value] This paper provides a relatively rational and comprehensive perspective for the community of LIS to participate in digital humanities.
