The Contrastive Analysis of Mathematical Subject Data Based on ESI and Thoughts on Discipline Construction——Taking the Mathematics of Wuhan University as an Example

Abstract:

Adopting the analysis method of literature metrology, this research compares and analyzes the ESI data of mathematics from Wuhan University with the data from several universities including Lanzhou University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University, and Sun Yatsen University. This paper reveals the advantages and shortages existing in mathematics of Wuhan University through detailed analysis of academic achievements of these five universities over recent ten years (20062016) by means of SCIE/SSCI database on the basis of the principle and standard of ESI data statistics. Meanwhile, this paper makes suggestions on how to maintain and promote the subject status as well as accelerate the pace of establishing a high level discipline and promoting the construction of a worldclass University.
