Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Exploring how to further enhance the international academic influence of Chinese library science is of great significance for advancing the construction of its independent knowledge system and strengthening its international communication capacity and academic discourse power. [Design/Methodology] Based on a review of relevant studies, this paper examines the century-long development of Chinese library science and conducts a systematic discussion of its international academic influence. [Findings/Conclusion] The findings show that the international academic influence of library science in China has generally shown an evolutionary trend from following, to parallel development, and then toward an emerging leading role. Since the advent of the new era, remarkable progress has been made in disciplinary development, research output, and international academic exchange. However, shortcomings remain in such areas as the construction of high-level platforms, the international dissemination of academic achievements, the theoretical articulation of Chinese experience, and the shaping of international academic discourse power. [Originality/Value] By integrating a historical review with an analysis of current realities, this paper proposes four concrete paths—bringing together talent and wisdom, building platforms and broadening channels, transforming cases to form theories, and weaving networks for strategic guidance—thus to provide theoretical insights for further enhancing the international academic influence of Chinese library science.
