摘要: [目的/意义]旨在探究生成式AI对在线问答社区中用户生成内容的影响,深化对新技术环境下用户在线知识交流行为规律的理解。[研究设计/方法]以GPT-3.5和GPT-4的版本发布作为准自然实验,采用广义合成控制法(GSC)分析Stack Exchange 48个子站点在两个版本发布前后的1,109,418条问答数据。选取English、Mathematics等8个子站作为实验组,其余40个子站作为对照组,比较不同阶段模型迭代对用户行为的影响。[结论/发现] GPT不同版本对在线问答社区的影响呈现阶段性演进、认知复杂度依赖和质量分化的三重特征,其中GPT-4显著替代标准化知识生产,但对复杂探索型问题影响有限。在不同主题领域,人机协同与内容质量下降的效应并存。[创新/价值]不仅关注GPT从3.5到4.0版本的升级对在线问答社区中用户生成内容的影响,还对论坛问题进行分类,探究生成式人工智能对不同问题类型的影响。通过这种“版本迭代+问题类型”的双重分析,系统揭示了生成式AI对在线问答社区中用户信息行为的影响,为在线问答社区的管理与引导人智协作模式提供参考。

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] This study aims to investigate the mechanisms through which generative AI influences user-generated content in online Q&A communities, thereby deepening the understanding of user behavior patterns in online knowledge exchange within new technological environments. [Design/Methodology] Taking the release of GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 as quasi-natural experiments, we apply the Generalized Synthetic Control Method(GSC)to analyze 1,109,418 Q&A records from 48 subsites of Stack Exchange, an online Q&A community, before and after the release of the two versions. Selecting eight subsites, such as English and Mathematics, as the experimental treatment group, and the remaining 40 subsites as the control group, we compare the effects of model iterations on user behavior across different phases. [Findings/Conclusion] The effects of different GPT versions on user-generated content in online Q&A communities exhibit three key characteristics: staged evolution, dependence on cognitive complexity, and quality divergence. GPT-4 notably substitutes for standardized knowledge production, but has limited influence on complex exploratory questions. Across topics, human–AI collaboration coexists with content quality decline. [Originality/Value] This research not only examines the impact of GPT's upgrade from version 3.5 to 4.0 on user-generated content in online Q&A communities, but also classifies forum questions to investigate the effects of generative AI across different question types. Through this dual analysis of "version iteration + question type", it systematically reveals the impact of GenAI on online Q&A communities, providing insights for managing such communities and guiding human-AI collaboration models.
