This is an outcome of the Major Project "Research on the Construction of Smart Senior Care Data Resource System for the Healthy China Initiative"(22&ZD327)supported by National Social Science Foundation of China.

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] This study aims to review the current status of smart senior care data resources, clarify their conceptual implications, explore the approach to smart senior care datafication in the context of active aging, and facilitate the transformation of smart senior care data from "creation" to "utilization", and smart senior care services from "existence" to"excellence". [Design/Methodology] This study centers on the concept of "the datafication of smart senior care" and analyzes its background based on the "I-Model" theoretical framework. It delves into the conceptual implications using Genre theory from the perspectives of "Who-What-Why-How". Ultimately, it constructs a research framework for smart senior care datafication encompassing research perspectives, paradigms, and key issues. [Findings/Conclusion] The study reveals the complexity of smart senior care datafication, which involves multiple stakeholders, diverse scenarios, and various technological components throughout the entire data lifecycle. Using the analytical perspective of the "User-Technology-Organization" three-chain spiral, the study identifies five research paradigms applicable to smart senior care datafication: positivism, interpretivism, system science, data-intensive approaches, and AI for science research methods. It also discusses key issues such as pain points and challenges, data governance, and data value innovation in smart senior care datafication. [Originality/Value] By focusing on "data" at a micro level, this study innovatively proposes and defines the concept of "smart senior care datafication" and identifies five applicable research paradigms and three key issues. It provides theoretical support for understanding the development stages of smart senior care in China, clarifying the stakeholders, key elements, driving forces, and operational mechanisms. Furthermore, it serves as an important reference for future theoretical advancements and practical explorations.
