Abstract:

It is a prosperous period for the development and researches of rural library in China recently. Chinese government, the library profession and nongovernment organizations have experimented with many fruitful ways to expand the National Cultural Information Resourcesharing Project, to establish the Village Library Project, to aid rural library and to develop central and branch library serve rural area. But the experiments also encounter with lack of funds, human resource scarcity, system obstacle, and library legislation deletion etc. Researchers have come up with suggestions for the sustainable development of Chinese rural library based on different perspectives. The paper suggests that we should reflect on the development of rural library from the source.
