Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Reviewing the research progress of the elderly’s information seeking behavior contributes to sort out the features and influence mechanism of their online information seeking behavior, and provides reliable epistemological evidence for the design of network platform for the elderly, the online information resources organization as well as the research and development of intelligent devices. It also brings inspiration to promote the construction of "Intelligent Medical Care". [Design/Methodology] Through literature review on information seeking behavior of the elderly at home and abroad, this paper made a summary and analysis on the main research contents, theories, methods and situations.[Findings/Conclusion] The majority of research focuses on three aspects, including the impact factors of the elderly’s information seeking behavior, their information seeking process, and their information seeking results. There are some core problems in the existing studies, such as lack of cross-cultural or longitudinal data-based research. And several research directions are worthy of our attention in the future, including cross-cultural information seeking behavior of the elderly, introducing gamification thinking, and conducting more natural seeking experimental research by collecting large amount of samples.[Originality/Value]This paper comprehensively studies the research progress of online information seeking behavior of the elderly, points out the problems in the existing research, and puts forward the future research directions that could be paid attention to.
