Abstract: [Purpose/Significance]This paper aims to provide reference for the education of information architecture talents in China with the study of demands for current information architecture talents in the environment of emerging information technology and the status of interdisciplinary information architecture education abroad.[Design/Methodology]By the classification analysis and network clustering analysis, this paper investigated the professional backgrounds and skills of information architecture practitioners. Besides, it explored the distribution of faculty, credit settings, and curriculum settings for information architecture projects around the world with the method of network research and content analysis. [Findings/Conclusion]It has been found that information architecture practitioners represent obvious interdisciplinary characteristics and their core skills appear to be clustered; moreover, a preliminary research on the situation of foreign information architecture education has been conducted.[Originality/Value]Through the analysis of the dual perspectives of supply and demand, according to the characteristics both of industry and academia, a feasible way has been proposed for LIS colleges to carry out interdisciplinary education in the field of information architecture in China.
