Abstract:

In order to keep up with the development of society, modern libraries should expand living space and accelerate the transformation of libraries according to users' demands. Modern libraries, such as public libraries and university libraries, should no longer be confined to providing the public with a place to read.More emphasis should be placed on public information literacy education. As a kind of information literacy, libraries' participation in promoting health information literacy has been proved to be effectivein other countries. However, libraries in China have been seldomly involved in the promotion of public health information literacy. In order to promote the development and transformation of libraries in China, this paper focuses on the problem of how they can engage in the promotion of public health information literacy. This article discusses the necessity and feasibility of libraries' participation in promoting health information literacy in China from the aspect of motivation, the practices in other countries, and enlightenments to libraries in China. The purpose of this study is to develop new services and improve the service quality of libraries in China.
